Heritage
Before the advent of photography, miniatures and silhouettes were produced from the 16th century onwards. Often round and oval they were designed to be portable and were a popular keepsake.
I've lived in England for most of my life and was the daughter of a Colonel in the British Army. Recently I discovered that my great great grandmother came from Cameroon to Barbados as a slave. Her son (my great grandfather) came to the UK at the turn of the 20th Century and married an Irish lady. I was unaware of this information for most of my life and having lately discovered this aspect of my heritage I have decided to celebrate it by making a small series of miniatures.
